Funeral service for William Bailey Dickens, age 91, of Smithville was held Jan. 14 at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. B.J. Thomason officiated with burial following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Dickens passed away Jan. 11 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was a Methodist and a retired maintenance Elm Hill Meat worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Grady Dickens; his wife, Emma Ruth Dickens; three sisters, Frances Dickens, Irene Silcox and Athelene Corley; and three brothers, Earl, Ernest and Harry Dickens.

He is survived by a daughter, Judy Ann Phillips and a son, Larry Joe and Janey Dickens, all of Smithville. Four grandchildren, Chasity Phillips Watson of Smithville, William Corey and Rebecca Dickens of Smithville, Eric Joseph and Jessica Dickens of Murfreesboro and Donnie Young of Smithville. Eight grandchildren, Thaxton and Avia Salinas, Nevaeh Watson, William, Sean, Landon and Emma Dickens and Logan Crouch; and a sister, Ethel Mai Price of Old Hickory.

Serving as pallbearers were Corey Dickens, Eric Dickens, J.D. Young, Thaxton Salinas, Mark Fish and Jamie Holmes. Collins Dickens served as honorary pallbearer.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
