Funeral services for William Edgar Davis, 50, of Smithville were held April 12 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Bill RobertsonĀ  officiated, with burial following atĀ  DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Davis passed away April 9 at River Park Hospital in McMinnville.
He was born April 25, 1963 in Smithville.
Edgar was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church. He graduated from DeKalb County High School in 1981, and from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville in 1985 with a B.S. in Agriculture.
He was a member of Delta Tau Alpha, Agriculture Honor Society and Sigma Ki, the Scientific Research Society.
In 1991 he received his Master of Science in biology from Tennessee Tech University. He was employed with Tennessee Tech University as an instructor and horticulturist for 18 years, and the United States Department of Agricultural for six years as a Biological Scientific Technician. As a result of his plant and soil research, Edgar was published numerous times.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Carl Davis; nephew, B.J. Davis; grandparents, Virgil and Dollie Davis, Lester and Maude Ford.
He is survived by his mother, Willene Davis; sister, Betty Davis; brother, Carl Douglas (Sandra) Davis; nephews, Jacob Ray (Dana) Davis, Jared Tyler (Kelli) Davis; great nieces, Kendall, Kloe and Kimber Davis all of Smithville; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive.
Pallbearers included; Wendell Baliff, Danny France, Billy Gash, Johnny Pack, Steve Ramsey, Melvin Ray, Bert Silcox, and Dub Evins.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of arrangements.
