Funeral services for William Herman Roller, 86, of Rock Island, were held Sept. 2 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Bransford England, Bro. Darrell Cantrell and Bro. Junior Hibdon officiated with burial following in Keltonburg Cemetery.
Mr. Roller passed away Aug. 31 at River Park Hospital in McMinnville. He served in the U.S. Army and in WWII, was a 32nd degree Mason and a nurseryman and was a member at New Union The Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Julius M. and Nora Ella Cantrell Roller; children William Earl and Eddie Herman Roller; brothers Jim and Obbie Roller; sisters Emily Caten and Nellie Roller.
Survivors include his wife of 68 and a half years Helen Roller of Rock Island; sons Larry (Rhonda) Roller of Michigan, Stevie Ray (Jeanne) Roller of Smithville and Danny B. (Paula) Roller of Rock Island; special daughter Jane (Buddy) Patterson of McMinnville; grandchildren Tracy (Jeff) Miller, Tammy Roller, Stephanie (Chance) Morrow, Gunter Roller, Sarah Roller, Mary Roller and Luke Patterson; great-grandchildren Kurtlin and Haley Miller; and a sister Bobbie Ford of Smithville.
Pallbearers included Chance Morrow, Kurtlin Miller, Jeff Miller, Buddy Patterson, Justin Adcock and Rob Cantrell.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Joe Wilson, Vianey Verdel, Larry Martin, Edwin Grissom, Jerry Cantrell, Jerry Stanley, Merrill Cope and Gentry Barnes.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
