Mr. William Hoyt Duke, age 73, of Smithville passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at St. Thomas West in Nashville. 

He worked in housekeeping at DeKalb Hospital for over 20 years.

Mr. Duke was born on May 27, 1949 in DeKalb County to his parents, the late William Odell & Martha Oleda Duke. His sister, Linda Kay Duke, paternal grandparents, Homer and Beulah Duke and maternal grandparents, Clarence and Louella Trapp also precedes him in death.

Survivors include his brother, Nelson (Vicky) Duke, nieces and nephews, Becky (Brandon) Miller, Dana (Eric) Barber, Ethan (Autumn) Duke, Paige Barber, Kelsie Barber, Jaden Barber, and Summer Duke all of Smithville. Uncle, Boyd (Linda) Trapp of Smithville and aunt, Judy Johnson of Liberty. A host of family and friends also survive. 

Funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Bill Robertson and Bro. Vincent Baker officiated with burial following in Whorton Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers included Dwight Hackney, Boyd Trapp, Brandon Miller, Eric Barber, Ethan Duke and Barry Trapp.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
