Funeral services for William Jackson “Jack” Evins Jr., 83, of Lebanon will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at College Hills Church of Christ with Brother Larry Locke officiating. Burial will follow in the Smithville City Cemetery in Smithville. Mr. Evins passed on Sunday night at the University Medical Center in Lebanon after an extended illness.
Born July 27, 1929 in DeKalb County, he was the son of the late William Jackson “Dub” Evins Sr. and Johnnie Estelle (McCartney) Evins Merriman, and was preceded in death by brothers Edgar W. “Eddie” Evins and Dan W. Evins.
Jack was involved in various activities throughout his lifetime including playing steel guitar with legendary country star Ray Price and the Cherokee Cowboys on the Grand Ole Opry, help construct and operate the original Sligo Boat Dock on Center Hill Lake, became a Deputy U.S. Marshal and later U.S. Marshall, Internal Affairs Director for the Davidson County Sheriff’s office, was a faithful member of College Hills Church of Christ, was an avid golfer, fisherman and a huge fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers Football (Go Big Orange). Jack was a beloved father, cherished brother and uncle and a loyal friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
 Survivors include his children Cindy Evins (Mark) Stephens of Knoxville, Judy Evins (Bobby) Poss and Betty Evins (Ray Donald) Webb, both of Smithville, Michelle Evins (David) Nicholson of Nashville, Kathy Evins Milburn of Smithville, W.J. “Dub” (Edie Beth) Evins III of Smithville; sister Myrtie Ann Evins Doak of Lebanon; grandchildren Maci Stephens (Chad) O’Connor, Hana Stephens, Christy Poss (Mark) Hart, Jason (Misty) Poss, Cindy Ann Dawson, Rachel Taylor, Jackson Nicholson, Mattison Nicholson, Benjamin Nicholson, Kelsey Evins, Marshal Evins, Tracie Webb (Greg) Baker, Trena Webb (Anthony) Ferrell, Tara Webb (Mike) Hale and Tadd (Tracy) Webb; and 17 great-grandchildren.
