William Lloyd Black Jr., 67, of Smithville passed away on Nov. 21 at NHC of Smithville.

 

He was a Methodist and worked as a Medical Tech. with 25 years of service to Dr. Melvin Blevins, he currently worked for Dr. Denise Dingle.

 

Funeral services were held on Nov. 23, at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

 

Bro. Bill Robertson and Bro. James Hayes officiated, with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

 

A Masonic service was held on Sunday night at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, William Black Sr.

 

Survivors include his wife of 32 years-Debra Black of Smithville, one son & Daughter in Law-Robby and Jessica Black of McMinnville, one Daughter-Heather Black of McMinnville, Mother-Joy Black Hambree of North Carolina, two Step Grandchildren-Christopher Thrower and Anna Raymond of McMinnville, two Brothers-Andy and wife Sylvia Black of Smithville and Greg and wife Lynn Black of North Carolina, two Sisters- Melanie and David West and Beth and Craig Gibson of North Carolina, Mother-in-Law-Betty Smith of Smithville, Brother-in-Law-Burks Taylor of Dickson, Nephew-Andrew Taylor, Jason (Danielle) Black, Kris (Liz) Black, Kiffin West, Craig Gibson, Jr. Nieces: Winnette (Stan) Bevis, Katie Black Great Nephews: Nate and Drew Bevis, Aidan Black Great Nieces: Taylor and Morgan Bevis and Lloyd's special friend, Sophie Grace. Extra special friends, Tony and Amber Prater, Anthony Prater, Teresa Quinton and Jimmy Atnip.

 

In addition to flowers, donations can be made to the DeKalb Animal Coalition, St Jude Children’s Hospital or DeKalb Food Bank in memory of Mr. Black.

 

Pallbearers included; Anthony Prater, Tony Prater, Jimmy Atnip, Billy Willingham, Jason Black, and Khris Black.

 

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville was in charge of the arrangements.
