Willie Allen Atnip, Jr. age 86 of Smithville passed away Tuesday night March 29, 2016 at NHC Healthcare of Smithville.

 

Mr. Atnip was born January 21, 1930 to his parents the late Willie Allen Atnip, Sr. and Josephine Summers Atnip. 

 

He was a retired nurseryman and farmer and was a Baptist.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Atnip is preceded in death by the mother of his children: Martha Myrie Atnip; 1 daughter: Darlene Stanley; 3 sisters: Lorene Taylor, Nelda Atnip, Vada Thomason; 2 brothers: T.J. Atnip, Grady Atnip. 

 

Funeral services were Friday, April 1 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bros. Shannon Cantrell and Michael Hale officiated with burial to follow in the Mt. Holly Cemetery. 

 

 Survivors include: 5 children, Wilma Jean Cantrell of Smithville, Jimmy Allen (Jeanine) Atnip of Cookeville, Janie (P.I.)Hale of Temperance Hall, Janice Walker (Bobby)Moore of Smithville, Darnell (Wayne) Crook of Smithville; 17 grandchildren: Anthony (Penny) Cantrell, Angela (Bobby) Johnson, Shannon (Tonya) Cantrell, Jamie (Jerry) Ashford, Jennifer (Eddie) White, Jimmy Allen Atnip II (Stephanie Barber), Kim (Jeremy) Young, Lisa Walker, Gabe Walker, Amy Walker, Donna (Matthew) England, Darrell Crook, Tonya Crook, Paul Kirby, Trena Jean Burgess, Amanda Savage, Ashley Hobbs; 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 sister, Dean Thomason of Smithville; 1 brother, Jimmy Atnip of Watertown.

 

  Pallbearers: Garrett Johnson, Ian Johnson, Dakota England, Jimmy “Bimbo”, Anthiny Cantrell, and Jacob Cantrell.

 

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville were in charge of the arrangements.
