Funeral services for Willie E. Murphy, 78, of Liberty were held Dec. 30 at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Howard Carroll officiated with burial following at Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery.
Mr. Murphy passed away Dec. 27 at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a crane operator at Chrysler Corp. for 32 years and affiliated with the People’s Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Grady and Bertha Murphy; four brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife Jackie Christine Murphy of Liberty; four sons Larry Edward Murphy of Windham, Ohio, Lee Roy Murphy of Ravenna, Ohio, Jeffery Wayne Murphy of Liberty and Michael Anthony Murphy of Liberty; two sisters Beulah Mia Bishop of Nashville; Peggy and Vernon Bogle of Woodbury; four grandsons; seven granddaughters; six great-grandsons; and nine great-granddaughters.  
Pallbearers included Larry E. Murphy, Lee Roy Murphy; Jeffery Wayne Murphy, Michael Murphy, Darrell Murphy, Christopher Murphy and Jesse Murphy.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville,  was in charge of the arrangements.
