Willoughby

 

Mrs. Sue Corley Willoughby, 85, of Alexandria passed away Feb. 14 at the St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.

 

Mrs. Willoughby was born July 11, 1929 in Liberty, the daughter of the late Roy Corley and Alvie Burton.

 

She was also preceded in death by daughter Wendy Willoughby, infant son Billy Mitchell Willoughby; and brother, Jack Corley.

 

Mrs. Willoughby married Billy Willoughby in May 25, 1951. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from TTU. Mrs. Willoughby taught in the DeKalb County School System for forty years, at Temperance Hall, Lower Helton, Liberty, Alexandria, and DeKalb West. She was a member of the Alexandria FCE, the Retired Teachers Association, and the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Willoughby was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother.

 

Mrs. Willoughby is survived by her husband of 63 years, Billy Willoughby of Alexandria; son, Mark (Marilyn) Willoughby of Alexandria; daughter, Pat (J.C.) Allen of Alexandria; three grandchildren, Brittany (Andrew) Dixon of Smithville, Luke Willoughby of Alexandria, and Holly (Lucas) Bain of Alexandria; two great-grandchildren, Katie and Cole Bain of Alexandria; brothers, Roy Burton (Jackie) Corley of Missouri, Roger Corley of Smithville, and Albert Corley of Liberty; one step-granddaughter, Amanda Corley of Nashville; nephew, Mike Corley of Virginia also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Willoughby were held Feb. 16 at the Chapel of Avant Funeral Home. Bro. Dan Mallette and Bro. Billy Friel officiated with burial following in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

 

Avant Funeral Home, Alexandria was in charge of the arrangements.
