Funeral services for Wilma Jo Burger, 81, of Smithville were held May 14 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Rev. Dr. John Purdue and Rev. Mark Pafford officiated with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Mrs. Burger passed away May 12 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She worked at the shirt factory and Kingston Timers and was a member of Smithville First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hervy Martin and Verna Mae Daniel Purser.
Survivors include her husband of almost 63 years, Cecil Burger of Smithville; four children, David (Kyoko) Burger of Japan, Gereda Burger of Mass., Pamela (Danny) Poss of Smithville and Anthony (Tammie) Burger of Smithville; five grandchildren, Nancy Burger, Simon Burger, Erica Burger, Nicole Burger and Zach Poss; sister, Mildred (Howard) Harrell of Murfreesboro; sister-in-law, Sudie Vickers of Liberty.
Pallbearers included Nancy Burger, Erica Burger, Nicole Burger, Zach Poss, Danny Poss, and George Taylor.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were the Smithville Fire Department and Smithville Police Department.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, LLC, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
