Just when you think you’ve seen it all, now there’s a “Make America Great Again” President Donald Trump Christmas hat. It’s red, has the slogan, is surrounded by Christmas lights and only costs a mere $45, tax and shipping not included.
If you want one, just go here: https://shop.donaldjtrump.com/products/official-merry-christmas-hat.
It’s official and carries the Trump endorsement: Trump Make America Great Again Committee.
Paid for by Trump Make America Great Again Committee, a joint fundraising committee authorized by and composed of Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. and the Republican National Committee.
This slogan is so ambiguous, how could anyone argue with it? To me, there are a few details which are lacking. First, the definition of what we want to be great at - hockey, baseball … thermonuclear war?
I’m sure if you ask around, there are plenty of people who have ideas of why our country is not at the brink of greatness as we speak. When are we going to stop arguing about the liberals and the conservatives and focus on what really matters instead of spouting rhetoric and tired clichés and then going out and protesting and counter-protesting without making headway into what I think really matters.
We’re never going to be great until we give up our egotistical elitist attitudes and care about one another like Jesus says we should do.
Let’s take healthcare as an example. Newsweek had an article a few months ago with data going back to 1980. Our system wasn’t working long before Obama took over.
In the review, the Commonwealth Fund focused on care process, access, administrative efficiency, equity and health care outcomes, studying 72 indicators within those fields. The 11 countries analyzed were Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. In addition to ranking last or close to last in access, administrative efficiency, equity and health care outcomes, the U.S. was found to spend the most money on health care.
Basically, we pay the most and get the least. The U.S. is the only high-income nation to lack universal health care as well.
If there’s one thing that would make American great it would be to top the world in progressive health care including preventive and programs to keep people healthy instead of selling us sugar-filled snacks as food and wondering why diabetes and obesity are killing us off. Heck, a foreign country that wants to take us over just has to air drop Twinkies across the country and we’ll do the rest ourselves.
What about poverty? Should there be any homeless children, or person for that matter, in the greatest country on the planet? One that can send men to the moon but not build affordable housing and provide jobs training for those who want to work and learn?
When are we going to start cleaning up our act? I mean that both figuratively and literally as our cars spew noxious gas into the atmosphere when we could be the most advanced country in the world with alternative fuels and energy.
