July 4 brings out the patriotism in folks. This is a time the U. S. commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. It is a time when we no longer a part of the British Empire. We are so thankful for our independence.
Jimmy and Becky Womack, of Smithville, visited last week. We enjoyed their visit and the beautiful flowers they brought. Come back anytime.
We have been blessed with squash of every kind, so our recipe books have really come in handy for diversity in preparing them. One Sunday we had baked, fried and a squash casserole. My favorite has always been deep fried with onions, but the casserole on Sunday was really good. Here is the recipe: 4 cups squash, 2 eggs beaten, 1 cup mayo, 1 onion chopped, ½ cup cheese of choice, cook squash onions and bell pepper in a little water till tender (drain), mix all ingredients together and top with one crushed roll of Ritz crackers sprinkled with melted butter, bake at 350 degree 30 mins or until brown. Enjoy.
Buddy and Deborah Fuson are visiting for a few weeks. We are thankful for the time they stay here. On their way up to our house they stopped by their sons home for a over night visit in Paris, TN.
