May is moving right along. Thankfully the gardens are planted and seem to be growing nicely with these warmer days and nights. We hope it is a good yielding crop this year. Many of the farmers have started cutting their spring hay fields. It is exciting to see the hay cut and bailed outside our back door.
The children are all excited about summer. We wish Elizabeth Miller a restful summer before starting college in the fall. Her class was so large the graduation had to be held at the MTSU gymnasium. Those attending were Michele and Todd Kent, and son Brandon, Olivia Miller, Ronnie and Sarah Kent, Jimmy and Judy Kimbrell, Lisa Cripps, Monica Reynolds, Naomi Miller, Nathan and Sandra Miller, Alex and Cody. Elizabeth’s principal will become the new director of schools in Murfreesboro this fall. We wish him much success.
Levi Reynolds, son of David and Monica Reynolds, Dry Creek, was excited to receive a perfect attendance award at the DeKalb West School Awards Day. He won $10 and a bike. Great job Levi! Thank you DeKalb West for all you do to motivate children.
It is almost Vacation Bible School time. We hope children around DeKalb County will seek out some of the many Bible Schools offered at various times throughout the summer. Some will be at night, but a few will be in the day time. Keep a watchful eye out for these events in our local newspaper and radio.
The Justin Potter Summer Reading Program is ready to get started at the end of this month. Reading is such an important subject for all children to learn. We are thankful for this program that helps promote the love of reading and helps to bridge the summer gap from school.
