Dry Creek community has been pretty quiet this week other than the extreme heat. We welcome the cooler temperatures and rain. The local gardens were beginning to suffer from the extreme temperatures. Some of the bean pants had bottom leaves drying up and the corn leaves had turned inward like they do in times of drought. Gardens require a lot of time and money, so we thank the good Lord for these recent rains.
We send out congratulations to Kenzie France, granddaughter of Jeanette France, on her recent sport’s honor.
We believe all the hay has been cut and put in the barns for winter feeding. It required working in some extremely hot conditions, but it got done. The farmers always try to get three cuttings out of a summer crop of hay, so maybe these rains will help bring on the next cutting.
We send out Happy 41st Anniversary wishes to Jerald and Lisa Cripps on June 24th. They married at the Dry Creek Baptist Church, Bill Owens was the pastor. It was a very hot day and the church was full. Unfortunately, the church didn’t have the best air condition back then, but it was a beautiful ceremony. Sally Hale Baskin play her guitar and sang The Wedding Song by Peter, Paul, and Mary. (Google that song and listen to it…beautiful) It is hard to believe how time has flown by and 41 years later they have three sons and daughter in laws with six precious grandchildren. God has truly blessed our family.
It is hard for most of us to be still and focus on God, but the scripture clearly says we need this to self-examine, praise and listen.
PSALM 46: 10 – “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
