Dry Creek Flashes - Visitors bearing produce always a welcome sight

Congratulations to Donald and Audrey Owens who recently celebrated an anniversary.  We love these dear folks and pray they have many more anniversaries to celebrate together.

We had a wonderful morning visit from Edward Frazier and his daughter, Susan Hinton.  They came bringing many sacks of garden vegetables.  It made my day to see these dear family members and hear Susan play the piano.  My daughter, Lisa, cooked the vegetables for our lunch.  The fried squash was wonderful, our first of the summer.  Thank you for visiting!

Our community was saddened to hear of the passing of Norma Gunter.  She worked at Lou Ann’s Fashions for many years.  Norma had the kindest spirit to all she met.  We send out sympathy to her daughter Sharon Rader and family.

Dry Creek Baptist Church just celebrated Family and Friends Day on June 10th.  Thank you all for making that a very special event.  The following are some of the July events down at the church:  July 1st Patriotic Service, July 2nd Amish Trip, July 4th afternoon celebration of Louise Frazier’s 101st birthday,  and cookout, July 21st Church family travels to the General Jackson.

Happy birthday to the following people who had/have birthdays in June:  great grandson’s Christian Cripps (6), and Brandon Kent (7), son in law, Ricky Hendrix (4), neighbor and great pizza maker,  Jimmy Midgett (3), dear friend and neighbor, Betty Mullican (10), daughter, Kathy Hendrix (14), nephew, Kenny Edge (25) and dear friend and neighbor, Georgia Hawker (23).

It is great to hear that Justin Potter Library is hosting another Summer Reading Program on Thursdays for DeKalb County children.

Many people get discouraged when others tear them down with their hurtful words, depression, and negative self-worth feeling can over take one’s self esteem.  Go to the Lord for peace and comfort….set your eyes on Jesus.

Psalm 56:3-5 New International Version (NIV)
3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
4 In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
5 All day long they twist my words; all their schemes are for my ruin.
