For what it’s worth, graduates, here are a few of my thoughts on you and the rest of your lives.
I am by no means a counselor or a therapist, so if I were you I would pay absolutely no attention to what you are about to read.
At this stage in your life you know everything.
At some point in the future you will long for the days when you knew everything, and discover that you don’t have a clue.
When that time arrives, don’t worry. Worry only brings you closer to death, and by then you will already be halfway there.
It’s okay to be scared.
If you accomplish much of anything in life you’re bound to be scared out of your wits a few times in the process. Just don’t worry about it.
Don’t rush out and get married to some person just because you can’t stand to be without them.
People grow until the day they start to rot, and you may find that the love of your life at 18 is a totally different person in a couple of years, and that you are, too.
Oh - To those of you who like loud noises and things that go fast, it is true that you may live past 30, in spite of your best efforts to break your own neck.
When you do it will hurt, but I know from experience that it won’t do any good to try and convince you of that now.
