GPS Mix-up
Larry Steffee

On April 4, 2021, a groom was mistakenly led to the wrong house for his wedding through a GPS mix-up.  Actually, an engagement party was in progress for another couple, with family, friends, and a photographer also present.  The groom and his party were actually late for the event, and the bride-to-be was getting her makeup done at the time of their arrival.  Soon the mistake was discovered, and the groom and his party left in search of the correct address.

“Words from Above” in the Bible speak continually about an extremely accurate guide for the followers of the Lord.  After 400 years of slavery in the land of Egypt, the people of Israel were led by Moses to a land that God had promised to the descendants of Abraham.  One million people journeyed across a desert where they had never traveled ever before in their lives. God used a very unique way to guide them, namely a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night to guide them to their destination.

Some time after the people of Israel arrived and settle in the Promised Land, the people demanded from God that He allow them to have a king to rule over them because they wanted to be like all the other nations around them.  What this really meant was that they were rejecting God’s rule over them, and even though God warned them of the consequences, they insisted on having a king and He permitted them to have one. God did insist that the king would be subject to the guidance of a prophet of God, selected by God Himself.

In the days of Isaiah the prophet, the people of Israel decided to seek the help of other nations to fight against their enemies.  Isaiah told them to instead seek the counsel of the Lord, and gave them some very good advice about going in the wrong direction or making bad decisions.  He told them in Isaiah 30:21, “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk in it, when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left.”

Today, we have the Holy Spirit of God to guide and direct us on our journey to heaven, and Jesus made it very clear that after He left this earth He would send the Holy Spirit to not only walk with us but to live within us.  This means we have a built-in internal “GPS” which will never lead us astray or point us in the wrong direction.  There will never be a “GPS mixup” when it comes to the Holy Spirit.
