To the editor:
Our county executive and commissioners have really earned my respect with great management in the last few months.
Smart, conservative decisions have been made such as refinancing debt to take advantage of lower interest rates, strengthening the county bond rating.
The purchase of the Smithville Food Store building was an incredible buy and will greatly improve many areas of government services and community programming.
So, I say let’s keep the momentum going! Our lake has 4 million visitors a year. We have strong, diverse industry and agriculture that has, for the most part, survived a very scary national recession.
Our little hospital offers world-class, patient-centered care. Now is the time to have a crown jewel in our community for our greatest assets, our children.
It’s time for one of our most visited buildings in the county – the DeKalb County High School - to reflect our community pride.
The Good Book tells a story about how we will be rewarded for investing our talons, not burying them.
What better investment than for the education of our children? Please commissioners, let’s pull together and move forward on April 18th in a favorable vote to purchase land for a new school.
