From Where I Stand

Memorial Day Thoughts.

Acts 22:28: "And the chief captain answered, ‘With a great sum obtained I this freedom.’ And Paul said, ‘But I was free born."

May this exchange of words between the Apostle Paul and the chief captain be long read to remind us of the price of freedom..

As we celebrate Memorial day let us be sure and remember those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.. These three simple points make for a powerful message for such a day as this..

Our Freedom Is:

1. Bought with a price

2. Bound to Responsibility

3. Bright with Promise

It was with the blood of thousands of soldiers that our freedom was purchased, and that is no cheap price to pay.. It was with the Blood of Jesus Christ that our freedom from sin was purchased.

Being a good citizen is really not optional if we are to remain free people.. It is our solemn responsibility to show the faithfulness needed to help insure our permanent freedom..

God please help me to be a good citizen of both our country and of your kingdom.. With your help I will be faithful to both my country and to your church.. And our future is just as bright as we choose to make it..

We can stand aside and allow ungodly people to waste and ruin what our brave soldiers shed their blood for or we can keep the lights of freedom burning brightly with promise in America.

Isaiah 9:2: "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined."

And finally this.. What could be brighter than the eternal light of heaven For Jesus is the light of that city.. which was purchased for me with His own blood.. Because you see.... By that blood I am free born..

Revelation 22:5: "And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign forever."

And so here I stand
