Reformation or Transformation..
From Where I Stand

Do you understand why our criminal justice system has such a bad record in trying to help those get straightened out who have taken the wrong roads in life.. The answer is really pretty simple.. All the emphasis and effort is given toward reforming those who have allowed evil to take over their life..

Reforming simply doesn't work in most instances.. Jesus has a very different approach in his dealings with ungodly people..

Here is a Bible verse that speaks to this ..... Romans 12:2: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

The transforming power of God can change the vilest sinner into a new creature.. Criminals will seldom if ever be reformed but Jesus can transform them.. The ungodly man needs a new heart and then he will start to live a new life.. and never before that..

It will probably never happen but just suppose some prison would start filling the prison up with Bibles.. A constant stream of bible preaching and Scripture readings being piped into the cells through their TV programs and a preaching service each night for all those who would agree to attend with Conservative Bible believing preachers doing the preaching.. .. It would be bound to work better than anything they are trying now.. The transforming power of Jesus is a mighty force..

Why does the church seem to have lost it's power?

Why are baptism numbers declining?

I think the answer to these questions and many others of a similar nature is all really pretty simple.. As churches we have copied the approach of the world and have started working to see bad people reformed rather than working and praying to see lost people transformed..

Reformation has the effect described below:

Matthew 12: 43: "When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
