SPACE WEEK
Larry Steffee

This week America is joining in the celebration of World Space Week, a weeklong celebration of the impact on our planet and beyond by cooperating together as a global space community.   A U. S. Space Force was established December 20, 2019 when the National Defense Authorization Act was signed into law, creating the first new branch of the armed forces in 73 years.  This new law recognized that Space is a national security issue and that there is a need to pursue superiority in the domain of space.  The Guardians of USSF are called to protect and defend American interests and to ensure American forces, allies, and the world never experience a day without space.

“Words from Above” tell us that there is a world beyond space as we know it, where all followers of God can one day travel and spend eternity in the presence of the Creator of the Universe.  In this new world there will be perfect peace and security provided by the Creator.  The apostle Paul writing to the believers in Galatia provided a list of sins that residents of this new world called heaven cannot commit.  The list includes, but is not limited to, sexual immorality, impurity, excessive indulgence in sensual pleasures, fits of rage, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, selfish ambition, all dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and the like.  Paul says if people live like this, they cannot inherit the kingdom of God.

Paul goes on to speak about what he calls the fruit of the Spirit of God which are demonstrated in the lives of true and faithful followers of God.  He includes love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  He says that there is no law against such fruit, and  it is not difficult to see that this new world will be far superior and far more desirable as a place to spend eternity.  This new world will be a place where the followers of God can celebrate not just one week out of each and every year, but every moment forever throughout all of eternity.

Contrary to the way citizens of Earth are often at odds with others, there will perfect peace and harmony at all times.  There is an extremely good reason that this will be true, and that is because Jesus, the Prince of Peace, will be in control of the new world called heaven.  As the Son of God He gives members of His kingdom peace with God as well as peace with one another.  Contrary to the more and more limited space for citizens of Earth to live, citizens of heaven will have unlimited space in heaven.
