The 2022 Region 4-4A Superlatives have been announced and several DeKalb County Tigers have been recognized for their play on the field.

The Most Valuable Player awards were given to Stone Memorial’s Hunter Heavilon and Macon’s Gabe Borders, with the Offensive MVP award going to DeKalb’s own Colby Barnes. Barnes came away with 2,073 rushing yards on 287 carries, averaging 7.2 yards per carry. Stones’ Kaleb Flowers was also named as an Offensive MVP.

The Defensive MVP awards went to Terrence Dedmon of Upperman, and Macon’s Mason Swindle.

The Tigers’ Tyler Estes and Stone Memorial’s Brady Lane were named Most Outstanding Linebacker, while Ean Jones joined Upperman’s Bo Harrell as 2022 Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman.

DeKalb’s Josh May was named Most Outstanding Tight End, while Malachi Trapp joined Upperman’s Jackson Bush as Most Outstanding Wide Receiver.

Holden Trapp joined Stone Memorial’s Nick Osmun as Most Outstanding Returner, while Nolan Gottlied was named Most Outstanding Punter.

Coach Michael Shaw was named Defensive Assistant Coach of the Year, along with Stone Memorial’s Justin Qualls and Macon’s Spencer Young.

DeKalb’s Wil Farris, Ty Webb, and Ari White were named All-Region 1st Team, while Shadie Rankhorn, Johnny Skinner, and Trace Hamilton were named All-Region 2nd Team.
