This year’s Dekalb Youth Baseball Camp will be led by Tracy and Chase Slone. Coach Tracy Slone has coached baseball at Lincoln County High school and Lebanon High school, and is now completing his second year as the DCHS Tigers head baseball coach, leading them to the sub-state last season.
He has experience playing high school, college, and pro baseball. This will be his 23rd year coaching high school baseball. Coach Chase Slone also played ball, starting at shortstop for the Southern Illinois University’s Salukis.
He finished strong at 10th in hits and third in assists, leading all Shortstops his freshman year with a .981 fielding percentage. He also made the most double plays by any shortstop in the Missouri Valley conference.
This year the camps include: (for ages 7-12) a Pitchers-Catchers Camp on June 1-3 (registration at 8 a.m, $40 entry, Catchers need to provide own equipment); a Baseball Fundamentals Camp on June 8-10 (registration at 8 a.m $40 entry); and a Hitting Camp on June 8-10 (registration at 12:30 p.m. $30 entry).
