DeKalb wins two-in-a-row against Smith County Owls

The DeKalb County Tigers won two games in a row against Smith County Owls on April 13-14, one game resulting in extra innings. This brings their district record to eight in a row.

                                                                      April 13: DeKalb-2, Smith-1

In the first game against the Owls, Cody Puckett got the 2-1 win, pitching to 36 batters in nine innings. Puckett hit one batter, walked four, struck out 15, and allowed three hits and one run (earned).

Shane Salley, Tyler Caldwell, and Evan Curtis all swatted singles, with Curtis adding an RBI. Hunter Graham hit a double, and Cody Puckett nailed a Home Run and a game-winning RBI for the Tiger offensive effort.

Smith County scored only one run in the fourth inning, while DeKalb scored one in the first and one in the ninth to clinch the victory.

Shane Salley was on the mound for all five innings of the second game of the series, officialy getting the 10-0 win. He faced 21 batters, hit one Owl, struck out four, and allowed four hits.

The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning, three in the second, one in the fourth, and three more in the ninth. Shane Salley hammered two doubles and a RBI, Tyler Caldwell produced a single and two RBI’s, Evan Curtis had an RBI, Andrew Atnip and Hunter Graham both hit doubles, and Tyler Kent ripped a Home Run, a single, and a RBI.
