Big Games for Coach Pitch

by Chris Tramel

The littlest of DeKalb Youth Baseball's leagues were on the field last week, showing the little guys can have some big games.

On Monday, July 13, the Coach Pitch League's DTC team faced off with Liberty State Bank in what would be a high scoring game.

DTC's Jackson Dunaway, Hayes Kent, and Cameron Pursell each got a run in the first inning, with Kent having a home run. LSB was held to a three and out.

In the second inning, Dunaway had a home run for DTC, while Kent and Pursell also touched home. LSB's Len Reynolds got his team on the board with a run.

Evan Sims, Desmond Cade, Maddox Vickers, Dunaway, Kent, Pursell, and Zane Griffith each had a run for DTC at the top of the third inning. Archer Jones and Luke Winchester each scored a run for LSB.

In the fourth inning, DTC sealed up the game. Kent, Pursell, Sims, Cade, and Garrett Muskepf each scored a run, while LBS was held scoreless. DTC took the win, 18-3.

The next game up was a match between Brady Printing and Outreach Baptist Church.

Things started off slow for both teams, with neither getting on the scoreboard in the first inning.

BP finally got things going at the top of the second inning, with Jonah Strait, Ayden Buchanan, and Sam Tobitt each getting a run. OBC was held to a three and out.

BP turned it on in the third inning, with J Murphy, Bradley Starkey, Strait, Buchanan, and Clayton Yost each scoring a run. OBC's Cameron Pursell got his team on the board with a run.

In the fourth inning, BP went three and out, while Noah Wiley touched home for OBC.

BP went three and out again in the fifth inning, while Camden Nelson and Dailyn Armendariz scored for OBC.

Aiden Cantrell sealed up the victory in the sixth inning for BP, with a home run. BP would take the win, 9-4.
