Big Turnout for Return of Fiddler 5K

There was a packed field as the Fiddler 5K returned this year. The race benefits the Habitat for Humanity of DeKalb County.

After being sidelined during last year’s pandemic, the 23rd Annual Fiddler 5K and One-Mile Fun Run was back in action last Saturday morning. The 5K race featured 281 participants, with 263 finishers, and had a pace of 11:27/mile, with an average time of 35:32 minutes.

The race is sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of DeKalb County, Inc. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. The organization partners with people in the community, and all over the world, to help build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families.

In the 5K race, 20-year-old David Pautienus was the overall winner, coming in with a time of 17:07, while 17-year-old Cari Pantiens came in first in the female category with a time of 21:46. 45-year-old Sean Edwards of Carmel, IN, came in first in the Masters category, seventh overall, with a time of 19:23. 41-year-old Melissa Cunningham of Summerville, SC, came in first in the Masters female category, fifth overall in the female category, with a time of 22:54.

Other notable finishes include 30-year-old Bate Sielbeck of Greenville, SC, coming in second place with a time of 18:11, 16-year-old Aaron Gottlied of Smithville, in third place with a time of 18:23, 34-year-old Travis Hendrixson of Smithville, in fourth place with a time of 18:23, and 23-year-old Jeffery Williams of Franklin, TN, in fifth with a time of 18:28.

In the female category, 33-year-old Kyle Carsey of Cookeville, TN, came in second place with a time of 22:22, 26-year-old Meagan Hash of Fisher, IN, came in third with a time of 22:43, and 13-year-old Mylie Phillips of Smithville, came in fourth with a time of 22:49.

In the 9 and Under category, nine-year-old Hennessee Cope of McMinnville, TN, came in first in the female category with a time of 37:02, while seven-year-old David Rohman of Cookeville, TN, came in first in the boys category with a time of 30:42.

In the 10-14 group, 13-year-old Mylie Phillips of Smithville came in with a time of 22:49, while 13-year-old Antonio Jones ran 21:05 for the male category.

The 15-19 class saw 16-year-old Kiley Hughes of Auburntown, TN, with a time of 25:51 for the females, while 16-year-old Aaron Gottlied of Smithville, ran 18:23 for the males.

For the 20-24 category, 21-year-old Mia Godinez ran 27:48, while 23-year-old Jeffrey Williams of Franklin, TN came in with a time of 18:29.

The 25-29 category saw 26-year-old Meagan Hash of Smithville run 22:43, while 27-year-old Tyler Presley of Mount Juliet, TN, ran a time of 20:40.

In the 30-34 category, 33-year-old Kyle Carsey of Cookeville, ran a time of 22:22, with 30-year-old Bate Sielbeck of Greenville, SC, ran 18:11.

For the 35-39 category, 35-year-old Brittany Harris of Chattanooga, TN, came in with a time of 25:01, while 38-year-old Daren Oakley of Sparta, TN, had a time of 20:55.

The 40-44 category saw 42-year-old Preslie Barnes of Silver Point, TN, ran 27:01, while 44-year-old Jeremy Ortwine of Taylor, MI, came in with a time of 23:00.

 

In the 45-49 category, 47-year-old Jennifer Shope of Cookeville, TN, ran a time of 23:47, with 45-year-old Heath Hamilton of Baxter, TN, coming in with 22:09.

For the 50-54 group, 54-year-old Tammie Wright of Cookeville, TN, ran 31:00, with 50-year-old John Noel of Smithville, coming in with 23:37.

In the 55-59 class, 56-year-old Mary Snyder of Carmel, IN, ran a time of 24:21, while 59-year-old Jim Deck of Crossville, TN, ran 29:04.

The 60-64 category had 63-year-old Cheryl Ortwine of Byrdstown, TN, run a time of 30:08, with 60-year-old Lonnie Bedgood Jr of Buffalo Valley, TN, came in at 28:03.

The 65-69 age group saw 69-year-old Judith Sullivan of Cookeville, TN, run a time of 37:09, with 67-year-old Jim Wall of Smithville run 34:46.

The 70-74 category had 71-year-old Suzanne Welekr of Hartsville, TN, with a time of 41:20, while 70-year-old Dale Bohannon of Cookeville, TN, run a time of 28:16.

For the 75-79 group, 78-year-old Janet Lowe of Cookeville, TN, ran 55:00, while 76-year-old JC Kelley  came away with a time of 38:55.

In the Female No Age Category, 99-Year-Old Marjorie Munson came in with a time of 29:15.

In the One-Mile Fun Run, 11-year-old Ewan England was the overall winner with a time of 8:14, while Nola England was the overall winner in the female category with a time of 8:43.
