Blue, Green, and Orange playing in Senior League

The DeKalb Senior League has been in action over the past few weeks, with games being played at Joe L. Evins Ball Field.

 

On June 12, Dekalb Green took on DeKalb Orange in a close, one-point battle.

 

For Green, Logan Cornelius, Isaac Hall, and Lane Poss each scored in the first inning, while Logan Cornelius and Andrew Cornelius each had runs in the second. Derek Fish, Derek Young, and Tanner Poss each had a run in the third inning, with Fish adding another run in the fourth.

 

Brady Driver scored in the second inning for Orange, then joined Grayson Redmon, John Maynard, Caleb Stanley, Luke Oliver, Casey Taylor, and Noah Gill for runs in the fourth.

 

Green inched out Orange, 9-8.

 

That same night, Green faced off with DeKalb Blue, but the results would not be the same.

 

Andrew and Logan Cornelius each scored in the first inning for Green, with Tanner Poss adding a run in the fourth.

 

For Blue, Alex Snipes, Austin Brown, and Jacob Washer each had a run in the first inning, with Brown, Washer, and Conner Pruitt putting Blue ahead in the third.

 

Blue held on for the 6-3 victory.

 

On June 14, Orange played a doubleheader, starting with a game against DeKalb Blue.

 

Paxton Butler and Christian Pruitt each had a run in the first inning for Blue, while Alex Snipes, Travis Cheichi, and Josh Carlton each had a run in the second. Butler scored again in the fourth.

 

For Orange, Seth Whaley got the team on the board with a run in the fourth inning, then joined Luke Oliver and Colter Norris for runs in the fifth.

 

Blue got the win, 6-4.

 

Next, Orange faced Green in a close game.

 

Orange’s John Maynard, Seth Whaley, and Caleb Stanley each had a run in the first inning, with Maynard and Stanley scoring again in the fourth.

 

For Green, all the runs came in the fourth inning, with Andrew Cornelius, Isaac Hall, Logan Cornelius, Derek Young, and Hunter Jennings each touching home plate.

 

Orange got the narrow victory, 6-5.

 

On June 20, it was DeKalb Blue’s turn for a doubleheader.

 

First, Blue played Green in what would turn out to be a squeaker.

 

For Green, Andrew Cornelius, Logan Cornelius, and Derek Fish each had a run in the first inning. Andrew Cornelius and Fish scored again in the fourth.

 

Austin Johnson, Paxton Butler, and Alex Snipes each scored in the first inning for Blue, with Butler, Snipes, and Jacob Washer each getting runs in the second.

 

Blue got the 6-5 win.

 

Next, Blue faced Orange in a more decisive match.

 

For Orange, John Maynard, Colter Norris, Seth Whaley, Josh Hembree, and Grayson Redmon each had a run in the first inning, with Maynard, Norris, and Whaley scoring again in the second.

 

Paxton Butler had a run for Blue in the first inning, while Austin Johnson scored in the third.

 

Orange took the 8-2 victory.
