Boyd Christian falls to Lady Tigers

The DCHS Lady Tiger basketball team hosted Boyd Christian School at the DCHS gym, giving the team from Warren County a 52-31 beating on the court.

 

DeKalb put six points on the board in the first period of play, while the Lady Tiger defense put a foot down on the Lady Broncos, holding them to only two. Ashli Chew, Jailyn Bolding and Hannah Panter all contributed two-point shots for DCHS, while Morgan Deweese hit a basket for BCS.

 

The Lady Tiger offense heated up in the second, outpacing BCS 16-6. Bolding hit three two-pointers in the period for DeKalb, and Morgan Pedigo put one in from across the three-point line. Chew, Joni Robinson and Macy Hedge rounded out the period for the Lady tigers with a two-pointer each.

 

Mackinzie Pistole placed a two-pointer for BCS, while Stephanie Mullins dropped in two foul shots and a two-point basket. The teams went into the locker room at half time with DeKalb leading 22-8.

 

DCHS put another 16 points up in the third period, allowing the Lady Broncos to score 11.

 

Pedigo sunk a three-point shot, as well as a two-pointer, to help the Lady Tigers along, while Chew scored four on two-point shots. Hedge dropped in another three-pointer, and Robinson and Bolding were good for two points each.

 

Rhiannon Hoover hit a two-pointer, a three-pointer, and two free throws for BCS. Deweese and Emma Rhoton added two each to take Boyd into the final period with a 38-19 deficit.

 

In a 14-12 fourth period, Hoover hit a two three-pointers and two free throws for BCS, while Rhoton and Deweese scored two points each. Five points from Panter, a three-pointer from Lydia Brown, and two each from Chew, Hedge and Sophie Cripps ensured a DeKalb victory.

 

Ashli Chew led the Lady Tiger offensive effort with 11 points in the contest. Bolding put in 10 points for DeKalb, and Pedigo followed with eight. Macy Hedge and Hannah Panter scored seven each. Joni Robinson put four points in, Lydia Brown three, and Sophie Cripps put two points in for DeKalb.

 

Chew hit five two-point shots and went one-for-four on free throws in the game. Bolding sunk five two-point shots, and Pedigo put in a two-point shot and two three-pointers. Hedge and Panter scored with two two-point baskets and a three-pointer each, Brown put a three-pointer on the books, and Cripps hit a two-point shot.

 

The Lady Tigers collectively connected with 18 two-point shots, hit five three pointers, and went 1-for-four from the free-throw line.

 

DeKalb County traveled to face Gordonsville Monday night, going 2-1 on the regular season with a 58-36 win. They faced Warren County on Tuesday in McMinnville, and will meet Livingston Academy Friday night in Smithville, with the Lady Tigers tipping off at 6 p.m. and the Tigers following.
