The DeKalb West School Bulldogs were in action last week, playing a home game hosting the visiting Gladeville Wildcats. It would be a close game right up to the fifth inning, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
Neither team would see any points in the first inning, but Gladeville would get on the board at the top of the second with three runners crossing home plate.
The Bulldogs would come to life as they came to bat, with Jon Hendrix reaching on a hit to center, then Logan Duke and Taylor Preston each getting a line drive out to center. Nick Murphy would also get a hit across second. All runners would make their way home, putting DWS up 4-3.
Gladeville would add three more runs at the top of the third, taking a 6-4 lead.
DeKalb would add two more runs at the bottom of the inning, with Luke Johnson reaching on a hit to shortstop, and Hendrix on a hit to left. Both would find their way home with a hit by Preston to left. The Bulldogs had tied the game, 6-6.
The fourth inning would not see any runs for either team, but Tucker Webb would reach second after a grounder to right.
The Wildcats would go back on top in the fifth inning, scoring four more runs. Gladeville was up 10-6.
The Bulldogs had one last chance at the bottom of the fifth, but would go three up, three down. Gladeville would take the win.
