Bulldogs Fall Two Games On The Road

The DeKalb West School Bulldogs were back on the hardwood last week, playing a series of road games.

On Monday, November 13, the boys traveled to Defeated where they would face a tough game. The Bulldogs only scored five points in the first period, with a three-point basket by Porter Hancock and a pair of free throws by Levi Cripps. Defeated jumped ahead with eight points.

The Bulldogs were held to just four points in the second, with a pair of two-point shots by Hancock. Defeated pressed on with 11 points, and the 19-9 halftime lead.

DWS came away with eight points in the third, with two-point shots by Drew Cook, Carson Davis, Hancock, and Cripps.  Defeated came away with nine and the 28-17 lead.

Hancock hit a pair of two-point shots in the fourth, while Maddux Pyburn had one. Defeated ended with 13 and the 41-23 win.

The following night the Bulldogs were at Caroll-Oakland where it would be a nail-biter at the end.

The Bulldogs put four on the board in the first, with a pair of two-pointers by Hancock. Caroll-Oakland was held to just two points.

Cripps sank a pair of three-point baskets for the Bulldogs in the second, while Domminic Williamson had a two-point shot. Caroll-Oakland was held to four, giving DeKalb the 12-6 lead at halftime.

Cripps hit a three-point shot for the Bulldogs in the third, while Cook and Williamson each had a two-pointer. Caroll-Oakland came to life with 13 points, tying the game at 19.

It came down to the fourth period, where the Bulldogs scored 10 points. Hancock sank a two and three-point shot, while Cripps had three free throw points. Pyburn and Williamson each had a free throw point as well. Unfortunately, Caroll-Oakland scored 11 points, claiming the narrow 30-29 win.

The following Friday, the Bulldogs were back on the road, this time in Carthage to face Smith County. The Bulldogs would finally get back into the winners’ circle.

The Bulldogs scored nine points in the first period, with a two and three-point shot by Cook, and two-pointers by Hancock and Cripps. Smith was held scoreless.

DWS added eight more to the board in the second, with a three-point basket by Cripps, a pair of two-pointers by Carson Davis, and a free throw by Hancock. Smith got into the game with eight points, but the Bulldogs were up 17-8 at the half.

The Bulldogs put 12 on the board in the third, with Davis sinking a pair of two-pointer and a free throw, while Cripps hit a three-point shot. Cook and Williamson each had a two-pointer. Smith was held to five, giving DWS the 29-13 lead.

Adonis Cooprider had a pair of two-pointers for the Bulldogs in the fourth, while Cook added a two-pointer and a free throw. Smith came away with nine points, but the Bulldogs claimed the 36-22 victory.
