The DeKalb West School Bulldogs Baseball team had a good week, with a pair of strong wins against some tough teams.

On Monday, March 22, the Bulldogs were on the road, battling a Livingston Middle School team.

DWS got on the board first at the top of the first inning, when Dallas Kirby scored after Ty Webb singled on a line drive to center field.

At the top of the third, Devin Fish scored after a Kirby line drive to center. Kirby would then touch home off of a left field line drive by Westley Kent.

At the bottom of the fourth, Jordan Parker had a spectacular double play, catching a shallow fly ball between center and right field, and catching a runner at second with a throw to Kirby before the runner could tag up.

The Bulldogs would score again at the top of the fifth, with Tyler Jackson singling off of a line drive to right field, allowing Ty Webb to cross home plate.

The Bulldogs' Tyler Jackson was the winner on the mound, pitching a no-hitter. He went five innings, walking two, and striking out four.

On the following Friday, the Bulldogs were back on the road, this time in Woodbury to face Cannon County. Once again, DWS showed that they were there to play ball.

DWS got things going, scoring three in the first inning. Kirby scored off of a single by Ty Webb, Webb scored from a single by Kent, then Tyley Jackson scored after Luke Midgett grounded out to second.

The Bulldogs would add another run in the second inning, when Devin Fish scored after Kirby singled on a ground ball to second base.

Cannon got on the board in the second inning after a runner scored off of an error by catcher Ty Webb, then another run in the third inning, after a double from a line drive to center. It would be the only points of the game for Cannon.

Fish scored for DWS in the fifth inning off of a left field single by Webb. Andrew Dakas scored after a line drive to right field by Jackson.

The Bulldogs would add one more run in the fifth, when Jon Hendrix crossed home after Parker grounded out to shortstop. DWS took the 7-2 victory.

Kirby was the winning pitcher, pitching five innings, with two hits, two runs, one error, one walk, and nine strikeouts.
