The Saints’ Elliott Barnes finding a two-pointer hard to come by against Warren County.

Monday, November 28, DMS was on its home court, hosting a powerful Upperman team.

In the girls game, the Lady Saints would get off to a slow start. Maggie Hendrixson would score the only points for DeKalb, a two-pointer and a free throw. Upperman would jump out with 10 points.

Things weren’t much better in the second period, with Brooke Fuson and Lillie Grace Young each scoring a free-throw point. Upperman added another eight to the board and took an 18-5 lead.

The Lady Saints just couldn’t get rolling, scoring only two points in the third, both from Jordyn Agee free throws. Upperman scored 11 and took the 29-7 lead.

Hendrixson sank two more free throws in the fourth, while Young added one. Upperman added four more and took the 33-10 win.

The boys game would be a little better, though Upperman jumped out to a 22-0 lead in the first period.

The Saints would get on the board in the second, with a three-pointer by Cooper Odom, a two-pointer by Kiece Hannah, and a free throw by J.T. Summers. Upperman scored 15 and took a 37-6 lead at halftime.

Elliott Barnes scored a two-point basket and a free throw for the Saints in the third, while Tucker Webb and Hannah each had a two-point shot. Hayden Quarles        had four free-throw points. Upperman increased their lead with 14 points. They were up, 51-17.

Hannah sank a three-point basket for the Saints in the fourth, while Barnes added a pair of two-point baskets. Summers also had a free throw. Upperman was held to just three but claimed the 54-25 win.

The following night, the teams again at home, this time facing visiting Warren County. It would be another tough night for the girls.

Brooke Fuson scored four points for the Lady Saints in the first period, with a two-pointer and a couple of free throws. Unfortunately, Warren would come away with 19 points.

The Lady Saints put just three on the board in the second, with a pair of free throws by Fuson and one by Olivia Derrick. Warren added nine more and took the 28-7 lead at the half.

It would be all Fuson again in the third period, scoring on a pair of two-point baskets. Warren added eight and were up, 36-11.

The Lady Saints were held scoreless in the fourth while Warren tacked on six and took the 42-11 win.

It would be closer for the boys game. J.T. Summers and Kiece Hannah each had a two-pointer for the Saints in the first period, while Elliott Barnes added three free-throw points. Warren scored eight and took a narrow lead.

Barnes hit on a two-point shot for the Saints in the second, while Hannah added three free-throw points. Luke Johnson had one free-throw point. Warren came away with six points, gibing then a narrow 14-13 halftime lead.

The Saints came away with 11 points in the third period. Hayden Quarles and Barnes each had a three-pointer, while Hannah had a pair of two-point baskets and a free throw. Warren came away with 15 and the 29-24 lead.

Anthony Moore and Hannah each had a two-pointer for the Saints in the fourth, but that would be all they could muster. Warren would seal the game with 16 points, taking the 45-28 win.

On Thursday, December 1, the teams were on the road, taking on Watertown. The girls would find points hard to come by, while the boys game would see the Saints with a victory.

The Lady Saints’ Brooke Fuson scored the only two points for DMS in the first period, while Watertown came away with seven.

DMS would only score two in the second period, this time with a two-pointer by Jordyn Agee. Watertown padded their lead with nine and were up 16-4 at the half.

Agee scored the loan DeKalb point in the third off of a free throw while Watertown added 12. Watertown was up, 28-5.

Fuson and Jerusalem Aldino each hit a two-point shot for the Lady Saints in the fourth, but Watertown would end with 14 and the 42-9 win.

In the Saints game, DMS would jump out with the first lead. Quarles scored on a three-pointer, while Hannah added a pair of two-point baskets. Barnes had a free-throw point. Watertown was held to five points.

The Saints scored nine in the second period. Johnson scored on a pair of two-point shots, while Summers added a two-pointer and a free throw. Moore also had a two-pointer. Watertown scored 11, but DeKalb held on to a 17-16 halftime lead.

Hannah hit three two-point baskets and a free throw for the Saints in the third period, while Quarles had a three-pointer. Watertown was held to three, giving DMS a 27-19 lead.

The Saints would close the game with 11 more points. Barnes had a three-pointer and a couple of free throws, while Hannah added a pair of two-pointers. Summers also had a two-point basket. Watertown was held to seven giving the Saints a 38-26 victory.
