The DeKalb County High School Lady Tigers had a busy week, playing three games but winning only one.

 

On Dec. 2, the Lady Tigers traveled to Warren County where they took on the Lady Pioneers. The game would go back and forth, but the outcome would not be what DeKalb had hoped for.

 

The Lady Tigers took the lead in the first period, gaining 10 points and holding Warren to six. Maggie Knowles was the top scorer, with three two-point baskets, while Ashli Chew and Jailyn Bolding each had a two-pointer.

 

DeKalb fell behind in the second period, taking only five points, while the Lady Pioneers surged ahead with 17. Morgan Pedigo had a three-pointer, while Chew added another two-point basket. Warren took the lead at halftime, 23-15.

 

The Lady Tigers scored nine in the third, while Warren was held to six. Knowles had a pair of two-point baskets, while Pedigo had a three-pointer. Chew also added a two-point shot. DeKalb had narrowed the Lady Pioneer’s lead, 29-24.

 

In the fourth period, the Lady Tigers would score seven points, all off of free throw attempts. Chew scored four, while Loren Cripps sank two. Bolding had one. Warren scored 13, sealing their 42-31 victory.

 

Pedigo was four for six on free throws, while Cripps was two for two. Bolding was one for two, and Knowles was zero for one.

 

On Dec. 5, the Lady Tigers were back at home, where they faced off with the Upperman Lady Bees. While the team was back on their home court, the game would be tough with the Lady Tigers struggling to get the ball in the hoop.

 

DeKalb scored 10 points in the first period, including three-point baskets by Cripps and Pedigo. Bolding had a two-pointer, while Chew added two points from free throws. The Lady Bees jumped out strong, gaining 20 points and a big lead.

 

The Lady Tigers added eight to the scoreboard, with a three-pointer and a pair of free throw baskets by Cripps, a couple of free throw points by Knowles, and one by Bolding. Upperman continued to pile it on with 22 points and a 42-18 lead at the half.

 

DeKalb found a rhythm in the third period, jumping out with 20 points. Chew took a three-point basket and a pair of two-pointers, while Knowles had three two-point baskets and a couple of free throw points. Bolding and Panter each added a two-pointer, while Cripps got one point off of a free throw. The Lady Bees were held to 12 points, narrowing their lead, 54-38.

 

The Lady Tigers added 15 more points to the board in the fourth period, with Chew and Bolding each getting a pair of two-point shots. Pedigo had a three-point basket, while Knowles had a two-pointer. Panter also added two points from free throws. Upperman sealed their win with 17 points, taking a 71-53 victory.

 

Knowles was four for four on free throws, while Cripps was three for six. Chew went two for three, while Panter was two for two. Bolding was one for one.

 

On Dec. 6, while many were just getting back from the Smithville Christmas Parade, the Lady Tigers were on their home court preparing to take on the Chattanooga Patriots. The afternoon game would turn out to be a dominating performance for DeKalb.

 

The Lady Tigers jumped out with 13 points in the first period, including seven by Loren Cripps. Cripps had a three-pointer, a two-point basket, and two points off of free throws. Ashli Chew, Jailyn Bolding, and Maggie Knowles added to the score, each with a two-point shot. Defensively, Chattanooga was held to only one point.

 

DeKalb kept pouring it on in the second period, taking 18 more points. Knowles had four two-point baskets, while Chew had two. Cripps had a two-pointer and two points from free throws, while Hannah Panter had a two-point shot of her own. Chattanooga was held to four points, giving the Lady Tigers a 31-5 lead at halftime.

 

The third period was no different for the Lady Tigers. The team put up 15 points, while holding Chattanooga to only one. Knowles and Panter each had a pair of two-pointers, while long-shooter Morgan Pedigo hit a three-pointer. Cripps and Kristen Parsley each had a two-point basket. DeKalb was up, 46-6.

 

The fourth period saw the Lady Tigers put the icing on the cake, with the team adding 10 more points. Knowles and Haven Watkins each had two two-pointers, while Dani Meadows had one. Chattanooga came away with only four, giving DeKalb a 56-10 victory.

 

Cripps went four for seven on free throws, while Knowles was zero for one.
