Caplinger named 8-AA MVP, Bond Coach of the Year

Former Tigerette Maddison Denman was chosen for the District 8-AA Hall of Fame.

 

DCHS Tigerette Pitcher Kayley Caplinger was named the District 8-AA Softball Tournament’s Most Valuable Player, Tigerette Coach Danny Bond was named District 8AA Coach of the Year, and former Tigerette Maddison Denman was chosen for the District 8-AA Hall of Fame at an awards ceremony held after the Tigerettes’ district championship victory Wednesday evening.

 

Caplinger, who pitched the entire tourney without allowing a run to be scored against the Tigerettes, gave up only nine hits in four games, and struck out 28 batters. Bond led the team to a first-place district finish, a district tournament championship, with an overall record of 30-4-1.

 

Caplinger cleaned up the awards table at the ceremony, also being named co-District Player of the Year, co-Pitcher of the Year, and Offensive Player of the Year.

 

Tyra Graham took Defensive Player of the Year honors.

 

Graham, Dani Meadows, Katie Hall, and Joni Robinson were chosen as members of the All-District Tournament Team, and Graham, Caplinger, Meadows, Hall, Hannah Walker and Myranda Bailiff were named to the All-District Team. Allison Maynard received an honorable mention, and Maddison Parsley and Joni Robinson were named to the All-District Freshman Team.
