DeKalb Youth League Major League games have seen some close scores over the past couple of weeks. The division looks to be evenly matched with some battles taking place.
On May 12, Curtis Supply took on Webb’s, with Webb’s squeaking by with a narrow win.
Webb’s took the early lead, with Levi Cantrell, Braxton Hutchings, Logan Johnson, and Caleb Taylor getting a run in the first inning. Cantrell scored again in the second.
Curtis got on the scoreboard in the second, with Dillon Knowles, Grant Curtis, and Caven Ponder each touching home. Malachi Hall and Elija Hall came in during the third.
It was the fourth inning where the game would be decided. Jacob Johnson scored for Curtis, but Jordan Crook and Joseph Rader had runs for Webb’s giving the team a 7-6 victory.
Liberty Machine faced Rice’s Tigers in a close game, but Liberty would get the win.
Liberty came on strong in the first inning, with Joey Burgess, Cody Antoniak, Conner Rice, Creston Bain, Ben Snipes, Bryston Smith, and Alex Colwell each getting a run. Nixon Murphy and Garrett Driver came home for the Tigers in the first.
Burgess, Antoniak, and Blake Burton scored for Liberty in the second, while Murphy, Driver, Will Percell, and Brayden A. touched home for the Tigers.
Burgess and Colwell added to Liberty’s score in the third, but Murphy, Driver, and Brayden A. made it interesting in the fourth as they scored for the Tigers. Liberty would hold on, getting the 12-9 win.
On May 17, Rice’s Tigers took on Webb’s. This time it would be the Tigers that would get the victory.
For the Tigers, Garrett Driver and Will Purcell each had a run in the second inning, while Jadyn Young, Justin Washer, Driver, Jordan Young, Logan Smith, and Cody Antoniak scored in the third. Driver and Jadyn Young topped off the score in the fourth.
For Webbs, Isaac Cross had a run in the second inning, while Jordan Crook, Braxton Hutchings, and Caleb Taylor each scored in the third. It would not be enough, with the Tigers taking the win, 10-4.
Curtis Supply battled Liberty Machine that same day, with Curtis getting a big win.
Curtis led the first inning, with Jacob Johnson, Aiden Curtis, Malachi Hall, Elija Hall, and Dillon Knowles each getting a run. Liberty stayed close, with Joey Burgess, Blake Bunten, Conner Rice, and Creston Bain each scoring.
In the second inning, Cody Antoniak tied the game with a run for Liberty, but Curtis came back in the third, with runs by Elija Hall and Knowles.
The game was decided in the fourth with Curtis, M. Hall, E. Hall, Grant Curtis, and Caven Ponder each touching home for Curtis Supply. Burgess scored for Liberty, but it wasn’t enough. Curtis took the win, 12-6.
On May 19, Liberty Machine was back in action with a game against Webb’s. This time it would be Liberty celebrating a win.
Joey Burgess and Cody Antoniak each had a run in the first inning to put Liberty ahead. Blake Burton touched home in the third.
Webb’s one and only run came in the fourth, with Braxton Hutchings scoring.
Liberty machine got the 3-1 win.
That same day, Curtis Supply played a close game with Rice’s Tigers. Curtis took the early lead, but the Tigers would roar back in the fourth inning.
Jacob Johnson scored in the first inning for Curtis, but the Tigers’ came to life in the third with Nixon Murphy, Jadyn Young, Robbie Snipes, and Garrett Driver each getting runs.  Elija Hall had a run in the fourth for Curtis, but it wasn’t enough. The Tigers got the win, 4-2.
