DeKalb Youth Baseball's Major League teams were on the field last week, continuing their competitive fall season.
On Monday, Sept. 14, the Braves took on the Athletics in a game that saw some good pitching and batting by the A's.
Carson Davis would be the first to score for the Braves in the first inning. The team would get three more on base in the inning, but would not be able to drive them home. Reed Midgett, Zander Simpson, and Anthony Moore would cross home plate for the A's, taking the 3-1 lead.
Davis would repeat for the Braves in the second inning, followed by Maddox Pyburn, to tie the score. But the A's were far from being finished. Christopher Galligos, Andrew Cathey, and Midgett added to the scoreboard.
For the next three innings, the Braves would go three up, and three down, while the A's would get runners on base but would fail to get a run until the bottom of the fifth. Cathey would touch home one more time, giving the A's a 7-3 victory.
Anthony Moore was the winning pitcher, with Silas Kirksey taking over in the third. Carson Davis threw for the Braves, with Hunter Hancock taking over in the fifth.
That same night, the Rockies faced off with the Diamondbacks in a much closer game.
Ben Driver and Anderson Fortner would each get a run for the Rockies in the first inning, while Cooper Odom would get the D-backs only run.
Talon McCrary would ad to the Rockies score in the second inning, but the D-backs' Preston Cantrell and Drew Cook would tie things with runs.
Driver and Luke Johnson would put the Rockies back in the lead at the top of the third, but the D-backs opened things up as they came to bat. Odom, Preston Taylor, Nick Murphy, and Cantrell would each come away with a run.
The Rockies would have one more chance at bat, but would be unable to find any points. The Diamondbacks would take the 7-5 win.
Nich Murphy was the winning pitcher, with Grayson Cantrell taking over in the first, then Preston Taylor in the fourth. Keegan Taylor threw for the Rockies, with Luke Johnson in during the third.
The following evening the Diamondbacks were back on the field, this time taking on the A's in a game that came down to the final inning.
Cooper Odom and Preston Taylor each had a run for the D-backs in the first inning, while the A's went three up, three down.
Both teams would get runners on base in the second inning, but neither would get points on the board.
Odom and Taylor would repeat in the third inning, while the D-backs again was kept scoreless.
The D-backs were held off the board in the fourth inning, but the A's suddenly came to life. Anthony Moore, Silas Kirksey, Wade Evans, Cooper Goodwin, Chris Decireno, and Dalton George each touched home plate, taking a 6-4 lead.
The D-backs had one more at bat, but again were held off the board, giving the A's the late game win.

That same evening, the Rockies faced off with the Braves in yet another close game.
Keegan Taylor, Ben Driver, and Luke Johnson got the Rockies on the board in the first inning, while Carson Davis and Maddox Pyburn kept the Braves in striking distance.
Neither team would see points in the second inning, but Taylor, Michael Justice, and Talon McCrary would ad three more runs for the Rockies in the third.
The Rockies would go three up, three down in the fourth inning, while the Braves finally got back on the board with runs by Davis and Abraham Kangler.
Once again, the Rockies wouldn't get a man on base in the fifth inning, but Porter Hancock and Brantley Brooks would score for the Braves, tying things up, 6-6.
Driver and Johnson would put the Rockies back on top in the sixth inning, leaving the Braves with one more chance at bat. They would get two runners on base, but would not be able to drive them home. The Rockies held on for the 8-6 victory.
Anderson Fortner was the winning pitcher, with Ben Driver taking over in the fifth. Collin Donnell threw for the Braves, with Carson Davis taking over in the fourth, and Brantley Brooks in the sixth.
