Close Games in Senior League Action
The Senior League teams of DeKalb Youth Baseball returned to the field last week with a couple of close games.
On Tuesday, August 11, Love Contrell went up against Southern Landscape Supply in a very low scoring game.
Neither team could find home base in the first inning, and Love Cantrell went three and out in the second inning. Justice Tiner put SLS on the board with a run at the bottom of the second.
Love Cantrell was still held off the scoreboard in the third inning, while Westin Wright added another run for SLS.
Cam Caballero got Love Cantrell on the board in the fourth inning, but that would prove to be the final run of the game. The game would go into the fifth inning, but would take the 2-1 win.
Carson Donnell was the winning pitcher, with Wesley Kent throwing for Love Cantrell.
That same evening, Wilson Bank took on SLS in what would be a high-scoring game.
Brayden Carter touched home plate first for Wilson Bank in the first inning, but SLS poured on the heat. Hunter Cantrell, Carson Donnell, Westin Wright, Jackson Arnold, Cesar Gaspar, Jackson Mathis, and Alex Lemons eached scored a run.
Wilson Bank was held without scoring in the second inning, while SLS continued where they left off. Donnell, Wright, and Arnold each scored again.
Carter had a run for Wilson Bank in the third inning, but SLS was held without scoring.
Things looked bleak for Wilson Bank as the fourth inning began, but the team finally got into the game. Carter, Ian Colwell, Jacob Hendrix, Ty Parker, Axel Aranda, and Tyler Jackson each had a run, while SLS was held off the scoreboard.
Wilson Bank had a chance as they went into the fifth inning, but it was not to be. SLS held on to get the 10-8 victory.
Westin Wright was the winning pitcher, with Jordan Parker in relief. Brayden Carter and Jacob Hendrix threw for Wilson Bank.
On Friday, August 14, SLS once again faced off with Love Cantrell.
SLS couldn't get on the board through four innings, while Cam Caballero, Konner Young, and Ty Webb each scored for Love Cantrell in the first inning, then did the same thing in the third. Young would add one more run to the scoreboard in the fourth inning.
SLS didn't find home plate until the fifth inning, when Hunter Cantrell and Carson Donnell each had a run, but it was too little, too late. Love Cantrell took the win, 7-2.
Garrison Randolph was the winning pitcher, with Ty Webb in as relief. Carson Donnell, Westin Wright, and Jordan Parker threw for SLS.
