Last Monday the Co-ed Softball league kicked off their regular season play after a pre-season tournament took place the week prior.
In the (Baby Doll) League, the Napa Auto Body team took on Jimmy’s Lawn Care. Lawn Care took home the win with a  big 15-8 win.
In the top of the first, Lawn Care kicked things off with  two runs coming from Mykensie Wilson when he dropped in a double that brought in two runs.
Napa answered back in the bottom of the first with four runs. Ellie Cripps brought in a run with a single down the third baseline. Marcus Cripps later brought in three runs with a double.
In the second inning, Lawn Care blasted out four runs to give them back the lead. The four runs by Lawn Care was good enough to hold off Napa in the second inning as they were only able to bring in a single run in the inning.
In the third inning, Lawn Care’s Melasia Gilles  knocked out a double that brought in a run. Gilles would then round the bases and eventually score on a bad throw to home plate. Two runs would be all that the team could manage in the third.
In the bottom of the third, Napa would close the gap between the two by scoring three runs, and tie the game at eight runs each.
With Napa nipping at their heels, Lawn Care then exploded in the top of the fourth with six runs. Desmond Nokes started the slugfest with a three-run homerun. Wilson would again bring in two more runs with her second double.  Skylor Young scored the last run of the inning with a single.
Napa would have no answer for the outburst from Lawn Care and was held scoreless in the fourth.
Lawn Care cooled down after they were so heated up in the fourth and would only bring in one run in the fifth. The damage was done and the defense of Lawn Care was too stiff for Napa to overcome as they would not score again, and would concede defeat to Lawn Care.
The next game of the night was in the (Junior Doll) League. The showdown would be between Liberty State Bank and  The Cleveland Bain Framers. Liberty cruised by with an easy 7-2 win.
Liberty started the top of the inning but was held scoreless. The Framers managed to score a run, giving them the advantage and the lead going into the second inning.
Each team would go scoreless through the game until in the bottom of the fourth the Framers finally brought a score across the plate.
In the top of the fifth, Liberty exhibited signs of life with a run scored, showing they hadn’t given up yet as the game was still close. The Framers were shut out in the bottom of the fifth.
Liberty capitalized on their momentum boost in the fifth by scoring three runs in the sixth. The defense for Liberty had stepped up and again shut down the Framers’ offense and kept their lead.
In the seventh inning, Liberty again ripped the Framers for three more runs. They would never recover and Liberty was declared the winner after seven innings.
The last game of the night was in the (Senior Doll) League. The Daystar Carpenters took on the team of Good Health Family Clinic.
The Carpenters demolished the Clinic, putting up 23 runs against the Clinic’s six.
In the first inning, Clinic was able to bring in two runs against the Carpenters. Clinic was also able to shut out the Carpenters in the first inning.
In the second inning the teams’ production swapped sides, as the Clinic was shut out and the Carpenters brought in two runs to tie the game.
In the top of the third, the Clinic pushed their way back to the front, scoring three runs. The Carpenters answered back, and did so with an exclamation point, as the Clinic was bashed with seven runs and relinquished the lead.
In the fifth inning, the Clinic would gain some ground on their opponents and bring in three runs to add to their total. Though the Clinic cut the lead down in the top of the inning, it didn’t stop the Carpenters from again slashing them for eight more runs.
The Carpenters posted six more runs in the sixth inning and put a stop to any offense the Clinic would attempt to put together. The game was called after the sixth inning.relinquished the lead.
In the fifth inning, the Clinic would gain some ground on their opponents and bring in three runs to add to their total. Though the Clinic cut the lead down in the top of the inning, it didn’t stop the Carpenters from again slashing them for eight more runs.
The Carpenters posted six more runs in the sixth inning and put a stop to any offense the Clinic would attempt to put together. The game was called after the sixth inning.
On Tuesday night games were well underway at Bill Page Ball Park as regular season play continued.
The first game was in the (Baby Doll) League and featured the the Napa Auto Parts team versus the Jimmy’s Lawn Care team. Lawn Care easily defeated Napa 18-6.
In the top of the first, Napa started the game slowly and only managed two singles in the inning, coming from Monica Carlton and Austin Hossee.
In the bottom of the first, Lawn Care would not waste much time getting on the board when the third batter, Halley Carroll, scored a solo inside-the-park homerun.
Two batters later, Hannah McBride brought in two runs to score with a single that made it up the alley. Isaiah Bly took the mound with the bases loaded and knocked out a three-run triple. Keirstine Robinson ended the inning by striking out.
In the top of the second, Napa was still looking for any sort of offensive production but the team never even managed a base hit.
In the bottom of the second, with two outs, Carroll was back to the plate and had a second helping of a solo inside-the-park homerun. Ellie Cripps ended the inning with a strike out.
In the top of the third, Napa finally managed to get on the board when Austin Hosse brought in a run with an RBI single. Deena Maxwell also brought in a run  with a single down the third baseline. Melasia Giles added to the total with her own RBI single. Skylor Young would finish out the inning by grounding out to first.
In the bottom of the third, Isaiah Six helped bring in a run with an RBI single, with another run coming in from Sabrina Cripps.
In the top of the fourth, Giles brought in Hosse to score with a double into centerfield. Carlton ended the inning with a fly out to third base.
In the bottom of the fourth, Lawn Care exploded with nine runs to add to their already dominant lead, led by Bly with a three-run homerun. Carroll would also bring in two runs with a double to right field.
In the top of the fifth, Napa would score only one more run when Maxwell would have a sac fly. The inning, along with the game, was ended when Giles flew out to third base and Lawn Care walked away with a dominant performance.
The next game was in the (Junior Doll) League when the Cleveland Bain Framers took on the Howling Mad team. The Framers would nail Howling for a 15-4 victory.
The Framers would lead off in the top of the inning and make a statement by driving in five runs.
Madison Dickens led off with a single. Santana Ferrell brought in Dickens with a standing double for the first score of the game. Allison Maynard would extend the lead with a three-run homerun. T.J Bain then slapped out a triple and was then brought home by Erin Burchfield with her single that made it past the short stop. In the bottom of the first, Howling went three up and three down with two batters grounding out and forcing the third to fly out.
In the top of the second, Ariel Maxwell dropped in a single to shallow left field. Allison Maynard made it to first on a line drive that just made it past the short stop. Bain was up to the plate, and with two runners on, he blasted the ball to deep centerfield good for a three-run homerun. The inning was later retired when Kailey Jones ground out to second.
In the bottom of the second, Kaylee Stephens brought in a run with a slow roller to second base that could not be fielded, and was credited as an error.
In the top of the third inning, the Framers’ production was halted, as each batter for the Framers would fly out into the infield.
In the bottom of the third, Nick Agee helped his team by banging in two runs with a deep shot to left field good for a double. The rest of the team would not fare so well and no other hit would be recorded for the team.
In the top of the fourth, the Framers would tack on four more runs to their already extensive lead. Maynard brought in two runs with a triple. Maxwell also brought in two runs with a double.
In the bottom of the fourth, Howling was shut down again with two batters striking out and the last to ground out to third base.
In the top of the fifth, the Framers never let up as they drove in three more runs.,starting with Ferrell as she drove in a run with a deep triple to right field. Maynard brought in Ferrell with a single up the alley.
The defense would prove to be too much for Howling to handle and they were again shut down as the Framers did not allow a single hit in the fifth. After the inning had ended the Framers were awarded the win.
In the (Senior Doll) League, the Webb House took on the team of Good Health Family Clinic.  The Webb House slipped past the Clinic with an 14-13 victory.
The Webb House would hold off the Clinic in the top of the first and not allow them to score any runs. However, Webb would rake the Clinic for five runs, starting with Josie Culwell who brought in a run with a double to deep right field. Hanah Green also brought in a run. Martha Webb was next up to bat and hit a line drive into centerfield that brought in Green to score. During Stephanie Rackley’s at bat, she smacked out a triple to bring in Webb to score.
In the top of the second, the Clinic managed to drive in three runs and close the gap between them and Webb.  With the bases loaded, Michael Caplinger brought in three runs with a triple.
In the bottom of the second, the Webb House was good for four more runs. Culwell brought in two runs with a deep ball to left field good for a double. Shauna Taylor brought in two runs with a single down the first baseline.
In the top of the third, the Clinic held a steady momentum and brought in two more runs. Michael Caplinger and Tyler Baumgard each brought in runs with singles.
In the bottom of the third, Webb fell into a rut and was held scoreless.
In the top of the fourth,  the Clinic kept closing in on the lead as they added five runs to their total. Tyler Ludwig brought in a run with a double, and left a runner on third. Olivia Barber also brought in a run with a single to shortstop. Dakota Wagganor was able to bring in two more runs with a triple to left field.
 In the bottom of the fourth, the Clinic was again successful in holding Webb at bay, not allowing them to score any runs.
In the top of the fifth, Ludwig brought in the only score for Clinic with a line drive to left field that was good for a single.
In the bottom of the fifth, Webb got back into their rhythm, rocking the Clinic for five runs. Martha Webb dropped in a single that brought in a run. Next up was Billy Tiner and, with the bases loaded, he blasted the ball to the fence and would round the bases for an inside-the-park grand slam.
In the bottom of the sixth, down two runs, the Clinic could only muster up enough energy to put out a single run and the defense for Webb did the rest to preserve the victory.
