The DeKalb County High School Rodeo Team competed in Tuscumbia, Al, last weekend with several local students coming away with some big scores.
During the Saturday competition, Victor Roller had an impressive bull ride, earning a score of 83 points, giving him first place honors. Cody Hattaway won first place in the tie-down calf roping event with a 12.42 second run, and Shara Adcock placed second in the breakaway roping event with a time of 4.10 seconds.
On Sunday, Adcock placed second in the goat-tying event with a 10.78 second run and Hattaway placed in the top-10 in calf roping.
The team's next event will be held May 3 – 4, on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Martin. This will be the final regular season rodeo weekend and the last chance for the DCHS cowboy athletes to accumulate points prior to the State Finals Rodeo Competition in Memphis.
The finals rodeo is slated for June 12 - 14 at the Shelby Showplace Arena.
