Cross inks to become a Golden Eagle
After helping the DeKalb County Tiger football team go where no other Tiger team had gone before – the third round of the state playoffs, Isaac Cross will now make the 20-minute drive up Highway 56 to Cookeville after he has signed a letter of intent to play college ball for Tennessee Tech.
Flanked by family, friends, teammates and coaches this past week, the senior inked papers to become a Golden Eagle next season after he graduates from DeKalb High School this May. His signing comes shortly after he was named Most Outstand Offensive Lineman in the region during the 2019 campaign. The Tigers advanced to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs, beating Tullahoma and Marshall County before being stopped by Nolesnville, marking the first time the Tigers had been past the second round. The squad took second in their district and finished with an 8-5 record.
Cross will join his brother, Eli Cross in the ranks of collegiate athletes. Eli plays for Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky. Isaac will play for the Golden Eagles who compete in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Tennessee Tech competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision and is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference.
