DCHS Baseball, Softball, and Basketball
Basketball tournament

There will be some scheduling for the 2021-23 DCHS basketball season, as well as that of Tiger baseball and Tigerette softball, with the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) reclassifying its regions and districts.

Currently, DCHS is part of Class AA, Region 4, District 8, but will move to Class AAA, Region 4, District 7, along with Cumberland Co. High School (Crossville, TN), Livingston Academy (Livingston, TN), Macon Co. High School (Lafayette, TN), Stone Memorial High School (Crossville, TN), Upperman High School (Baxter, TN), and White Co. High School (Sparta, TN).

According to the TSSAA, the plan is a two-year system, with the TSSAA Board of Control voting in late-July, mindful of the pandemic. The board will revisit the reclassifications again after two years.

DCHS is currently part of Class AA, District 8, which includes DeKalb County, Macon County, Upperman, York Institute, Watertown, Livingston Academy, Smith County, and Cannon County.

Cannon, Smith, and Watertown will join Class AA, Region 3, District 6, along with Westmoreland High School (Westmoreland, TN).

Alvin C. York Institute (Jamestown, TN) will move to Class AA, Region 3, District 5, along with Bledsoe Co. High School (Pikeville, TN), Jackson Co. High School (Gainesboro, TN), Monterey High School (Monterey, TN), and Sequatchie Co. High School (Dunlap, TN).

According to the TSSAA, while there will be some districts with as many as seven members, most districts are being reshaped into groups of five schools with an eye on curtailing unnecessary travel – something done with both students' safety and school costs in mind.
