









After a short break, the DeKalb County High School basketball teams were back on the court last Friday night, on the road in Watertown where they got some big wins.
First up, the Lady Tigers took on the Purple Lady Tigers in a game that DeKalb would dominate. DeKalb scored 15 points in the first period, with Ella Van Vranken hitting the hoops big. She had a pair of three-point baskets, as well as a couple of two-pointers. Kadee Ferrell had a three-pointer of her own, as well as a couple of free throw points.
Watertown was held to just nine points, giving the Lady Tigers a lead they would not relinquish.
The Lady Tigers put 11 points on the board in the second period, with Avery Agee hitting a couple of three-point shots, while Van Vranken continued with two more two-pointers and a free throw point.
The Purple Lady Tigers were held to just one two-pointer, giving DeKalb the 26-11 lead at the half.
It was Van Vranken again for the Lady Tigers in the third period. She added another three-point basket and a pair of two-pointers, while Ferrell added a couple of free throw points.
Watertown came away with seven points. DeKalb led 35-18.
Ferrell sank a couple of two-point shots for the Lady Tigers in the fourth period, while Van Vranken added a couple of free throws.
Watertown scored eight points, but it was far from enough. DeKalb claimed the 41-26 victory.
Van Vranken scored 24 points in the game, while Ferrell had 11. Agee had six.
The Tigers would have an even better night as they faced the Purple Tigers. DeKalb scored 19 points in the first period, with Elishah Ramos sinking a three-pointer and a two-pointer, while Conner Close and Robert Wheeler each had a pair of two-point shots. Stetson Agee came away with a two-pointer and a couple of free throw points, while Brayden Antoniak had a two-pointer of his own.
The Purple Tigers were held to only eight points, giving DeKalb the 19-8 lead.
DeKalb was on fire in the second period, scoring 22 points. Zack Birmingham had a three-pointer and a two-point basket, while Close added a couple of two-point shots. Isaac Knowles had a two-pointer and three free throw points, while Antoniak, Wheeler, Nathaniel Crook, and Alex Antoniak each had a two-point shot.
Again, Watertown was held to eight points. DeKalb was up at the half, 41-16.
Close added three two-point baskets to the board for the Tigers in the third period, while Wheeler had a two-pointer and a pair of free throws. Agee and Jordan Young each had a two-pointer.
The Purple Tigers came away with 12 points, giving DeKalb the 55-28 lead.
The Tigers put 15 points on the board in the final period. Wheeler and Ramos each had a pair of two-pointers, while Birmingham added a three-point basket. Close and Young each had a two-point shot.
Watertown was held to just five points. The DeKalb Tigers took the 70-33 win.
Close had 16 points in the game, while Wheeler came away with 14. Ramos had nine, Birmingham eight, Agee six, Knowles five, Young and Brayden Antoniak four, and Crook and Alex Antoniak two.
