DCHS basketball loses tournaments

Both DCHS basketball teams were one and done in the District 8AA Tournament at Cookeville on opening last night Monday.

The Lady Tigers lost to York Institute 58-47 while the Tigers were eliminated by Smith County 60 to 58.

In the girls game, DeKalb County trailed 11-9 after the first period, 28-15 at halftime, and 38- 26 after the third period before losing with a final score of 58- 47.

Lydia Brown scored 17 points, Macy Hedge had 13, Emme Colwell scored nine, Hannah Panter had six and Joni Robinson put in two points.

In the boy’s game, the Tigers lost it in the final second of a tight game.

The Tigers led 17-11 after the first period but only trailed 25- 24 by halftime. DeKalb County pulled back out front 42-36 after the third period but fell behind in the fourth quarter and lost in the final seconds 60-58.

Tanner Poss led in points scored with 13, Gentry Harpole racked up 12, Trey Jones had 11, Colter Norris scored nine, Marshal Evins recorded seven points, Chandler Vincent had four and Austin Johnson added two points.

The Lady Tigers finished the season at 11-16 while the Tigers ended up at 7-20.
