The Lady Tigers made a decisive win Friday, as they outscored the Lady Lions in all four quarters.

Head coach Danny Fish said his team was going to win games outside the arc prior to the season’s opening game, and they did just that in Woodbury scoring 42 of their final tally by dialing long distance.

DeKalb’s Joni Robinson had her sweet spot staked out, and hit 7 3-point shots in the second and third quarter combined and scored 23 points for the Lady Tigers just behind Emme Colwell. Colwell scored a game-high 24 points, with 12 points she earned outside the arc as well.

DeKalb County went into the break up by 13 points with a score of 37-24 at the half, and didn’t back down for the rest of the contest.

Rounding out the Lady Tiger tally was Sophie Cripps with 6 points, Mallori Hart and Lydia Brown both had 5 points each, Megan Cantrell and Lydia Borwn each made a 3-point shot, and Maddison Parsley was good for 1 point from the charity stripe.

Maleah Scott was the top scorer for the Lady Lions with 9 points.

Both teams shot in the 50 percentile range for foul shots with Cannon hitting 10-of-19 and DeKalb going 10-of-20.

DeKalb’s offense was led by both Trey Jones and Tanner Poss who each scored 14 points apiece in the contest.

The Tigers outscored the Lions in all but the fourth quarter, where Cannon County made 16 compared to DeKalb’s 14 points. Poss was tickling the twine early, getting 3 3-point shots in the first quarter and going 3-for-4 from the line in the ballgame.

Colter Norris was on fire from the charity stripe, as he hit 7-of-8 in the fourth quarter as the Lions kept fouling to regain possession and Norris made them pay for the opportunity.

Marshall Evins garnered 12 points in the contest with two shots from outside the arc to keep the Lions from playing too soft a zone.

Cannon County’s Brandon Miles was Woodbury’s outside man as he hit for four 3-point shots for a game high 17 points scored in the game.

Also scoring for DeKalb were Nathan Atkins with 5 points, Austin Johnson 3 and Dallas Cook hit for 1 point to round out the scoring in the contest.
