Get ready to put on your cowboy boots and hats because the Tennessee High School Rodeo Association (THSRA) is coming to Cookeville. Be prepared to witness competitive high school rodeo at its best. Cowboys and cowgirls from across the state will compete in events including bronc riding, barrel racing, pole bending, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, goat tying, and bull riding.
The weekend will be full of rodeo activity. On Friday, Oct. 3, there will be an open 4D barrel race. Training barrels begins at 3 pm. Books close at 7 pm. Entry fee is $25/run with an arena fee of $5 per rider, with an 80 percent payback and a $100 cash bonus to the fastest time.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, our cowboys and cowgirls provide a community service event, hosting the Structured Athletics for Challenged Children Rodeo at 2 pm. Admission to this event is free. The THSRA rodeo will begin at 7 pm.
On Sunday, Oct. 5, we will have cowboy church and doughnuts at 8:30 am, with the rodeo beginning at 10 am. Weekend passes are $10 and will be available at the door.
Please come out and support our local high school rodeo contestants. DCHS has two contestants, La-Kota Luna and Shara Adcock, competing in this rodeo. For more information, you may contact Joe Adcock at 615-464-7283.
