The DCHS Boys & Girls golf teams played their region tournament Friday at Cookeville Golf Club. Both squads made the tournament by winning the District Tournament just a few days earlier.
In the Region Tournament, only the top team and the top four individuals move on to play in the State Tournament. The State Tournament will by hosted by Willow Brooke Golf Course in Coffee County, starting on September 26. Neither DCHS golf teams made it to the State Tournament.
However, three individuals moved on. DeKalb's Mallory Sullivan, with a score of 76, placed second and Kallie Mitchell finished fourth, with a score of 79. These girls will represent the Lady Tigers in the State Tournament.
Sophomore, Ethan Roller, shot a 70, placing fourth. This placement is allowing him a chance to play for a State Championship. Roller, who was tied for fourth, lost a 4-hole playoff to determine who would receive the fourth place medal.
The Signal Mountain girls' team placed first in the region, and Notre Dame took home the hardware for the boys. The State Tournament will begin September 27, with a practice round scheduled for September 26.
