The DCHS ladies soccer team traveled to Cumberland County on Aug. 20 to open the season by facing the Lady Jets on their home field, and returned to DeKalb County with a 2-1 win over the Lady Jets on the books.
Goalie Jessica Billings helped the DeKalb defensive effort in holding the Cumberland girls to on3e point by racking up an impressive 14 saves during the game. Haleigh Bass put both of The Lady Tigers goals in the net, scoring once in the ninth minute of play, and again in the 74th minute.
Cumberland County’s Donna Holt Shaw got the lone goal of the night past Billings, scoring one in the 65th minute.
While information on Thursday night’s game against York Institute were not available at press time, the team is set to meet Sequatchie County at home tomorrow night at 6.p.m. They will then face Livingston Academy, again at home, on Sept. 1 before competing in the Franklin County Tournament Sept. 4-5.
