The DeKalb County High School Lady Tigers basketball team had only one game last week, taking a break for the Thanksgiving holiday. The team faced off with the Tigerettes of Gordonsville, and cruised by with an easy win.
The Lady Tigers jumped out with 16 points in the first period, including a pair of two-pointers by Maggie Knowles, and a three-point shot by Morgan Pedigo. Loren Cripps, Ashli Chew, and Jailyn Bolding also got in on the action, each with their own two-point basket. The Tigerettes were held to only four points.
Pedigo was on fire during the game, hitting the long shots with three three-point baskets in the second period. Cripps, Bolding, and Knowles also kept the scoreboard moving, with each getting a pair of two-point shots. DeKalb added 21 points to the board, while Gordonsville got five. DeKalb’s lead increased 37-9 at halftime.
DeKalb continued to pull away in the third period, with 11 more points. Bolding and Hannah Panter each had a pair of two-pointers, while Knowles had one. Gordonsville came away with seven points, giving DeKalb a 48-16 lead.
Pedigo continued her three-point streak in the fourth period, getting another pair of three-point baskets. Knowles came away with three two-point shots, while Chew had one. DeKalb had 15 more points to end the game, while Gordonsville was held to 14, giving DeKalb the 63-30 victory.
Chew was two for two of free throws, while Knowles was two for four. Panter went one for two.
