The DeKalb County High School Lady Tigers split two games last week, winning with a dominating performance on the road, then falling during a home game.

On Nov. 18, the Lady Tigers traveled to McMinnville where they took on the Lady Broncos of F.C. Boyd Christian. DeKalb showed some muscle, taking an impressive victory.

The Lady Tigers scored 19 points in the first period, including two three-point baskets and a two-pointer by Loren Cripps, and four two-point shots by Maggie Knowles. Ashli Chew also had a two-pointer. Boyd was held to only two points.

Maggie Knowles was on fire in the second period, getting seven two-point baskets. Jailyn Bolding got in on the action with two two-pointers, while Morgan Pedigo added a two-point shot of her own. Boyd came away with only seven points, giving DeKalb a 39-9 lead at the half.

The Lady Tigers added 10 more points to the scoreboard in the third period, with a pair of three-pointers by Pedigo, and two-point baskets by Hannah Panter and Abby Evans. Boyd also had 12 points, but DeKalb kept the lead, 49-21.

DeKalb sealed the game up in the fourth, adding another 14 points to the board. Chew and Haven Watkins each had a two and three-pointer, while Knowles and Evans each had a two-point shot. Boyd scored 11, giving DeKalb a 63-32 victory.

Knowles was one for one on free throws, while Chew was zero for two.

On Nov. 21, luck would not be on the Lady Tigers’ side as they faced the Warren County Lady Pioneers at home.

The Lady Tigers fell behind in the first period, scoring four points to Warren’s six. Knowles had the only two-pointer of the period for DeKalb.

DeKalb took 15 points in the second period, including three three-pointers by Cripps and a two-point basket by Chew. The Lady Pioneers inched a little further away with 17 points, taking a 23-19 lead at halftime.

In the third period, the Lady Tigers scored six points, with a pair of two-point baskets by Chew, and one by Panter. Warren continued to pull away, adding 13 more points and taking a 36-25 lead.

The Lady Tigers scored 13 in the fourth period, including three three-point baskets by Cripps, and a two-pointer by Panter. It would not be enough. Warren scored 16, taking a 54-38 win.
