The 2014 spring season of Tennessee High School Rodeo (THSRA) got underway with two rodeos in Verona, MS on Feb. 15-16. Several DeKalb County students competed well, with wins and top ten honors.
La-Kota Luna won the bull riding on Sunday with a score of 68. In the steer wrestling event, Cody Hattaway placed second on Saturday and won first in the Sunday performance. He also placed fourth in the tie-down roping on Sunday.
Shara Adcock placed in the team roping in both rodeos, earning fourth place honors on Saturday and fifth place on Sunday. She placed sixth in the breakaway roping event on Sunday.
In the goat tying event, Shara placed fourth on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday. Victor Roller and Waylon West competed, but did not get qualified scores on their bulls. Bandon Barnes is still unable to compete due to a healing leg injury.
The Verona, MS rodeo is the first of five spring rodeos for the team. They will travel to Germantown, TN for the Memphis Challenge Rodeo on Mar. 7-9 for the next competition, followed by events in Tuscumbia, AL, and Martin, TN. The state finals rodeo will be held in Memphis in June.
